what is dnd?
Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game where players work together to tell a story. In D&D, each player creates a fictional character—such as a warrior, wizard, or thief—with unique abilities and a background. One player, called the Dungeon Master (DM), acts as the narrator and referee, describing the world, controlling enemies and non-player characters, and deciding how the rules apply. The game is played through conversation, imagination, and dice rolls. Players describe what their characters try to do—explore ruins, battle monsters, negotiate with kings, or uncover secrets—and dice determine the outcomes of risky actions. There is no fixed ending or single way to win; the goal is to collaboratively create an exciting story shaped by the players’ choices. D&D blends storytelling, strategy, role-playing, and creativity, making each adventure unique.
