what do you need?
artificer Masters of invention, artificers use ingenuity and magic to unlock extraordinary capabilities in objects. They see magic as a complex system waiting to be decoded and then harnessed in their spells and inventions. You can find everything you need to play one of these inventors in the next few sections. Artificers use a variety of tools to channel their arcane power. To cast a spell, an artificer might use alchemist's supplies to create a potent elixir, calligrapher's supplies to inscribe a sigil of power, or tinker's tools to craft a temporary charm. The magic of artificers is tied to their tools and their talents, and few other characters can produce the right tool for a job as well as an artificer.
bard
A Bard is a versatile, charismatic spellcaster who uses music, song, and oratory to inspire allies, demoralize foes, create illusions, heal, and control the battlefield, channeling ancient "Words of Creation" through performance; they are masters of many skills, excelling in social situations, knowledge, and supporting their party with spells like Charm Person, Invisibility, or Shatter, making them versatile adventurers who can adapt to almost any role.
barbarianBarbarians are defined by their rage: unbridled, unquenchable, and unthinking fury. More than a mere emotion, their anger is the ferocity of a cornered predator, the unrelenting assault of a storm, the churning turmoil of the sea. For some, their rage springs from a communion with fierce animal spirits. Others draw from a roiling reservoir of anger at a world full of pain. For every barbarian, rage is a power that fuels not just a battle frenzy but also uncanny reflexes, resilience, and feats of strength.
druidA Druid is a nature-themed spellcaster drawing power from the wild, known for their signature ability, Wild Shape, which lets them transform into animals. They are guardians of natural balance, wielding healing, elemental, and beast-focused magic, often shunning metal armor for gear made from natural materials like wood and hides, and they protect nature from unnatural forces like aberrations and undead.
fighterA Fighter is the quintessential martial warrior, a master of weapons and armor, known for incredible toughness, versatility, and relentless combat prowess, excelling at dealing damage, protecting allies, and overcoming foes with sheer skill, resilience, and special maneuvers like Action Surge, making them adaptable to any battlefield role. They learn all combat styles but specialize in areas like archery, dual-wielding, or magic-infused combat, adapting through Martial Archetypes.
monkA Monk is a martial artist who channels internal energy (ki) for superhuman feats, focusing on fluid unarmed combat, high mobility, and quick strikes, often emphasizing Dexterity and Wisdom, and drawing power from monastic discipline or worldly experience to become a living weapon or spiritual guide. They use their ki for abilities like Flurry of Blows (extra attacks), Patient Defense (dodge), and Step of the Wind (dash/disengage), and can even deflect missiles or strike foes with stunning force, making them agile, versatile melee combatants.
paladinA Paladin is a holy warrior bound by a sacred oath, drawing divine power from their unwavering commitment to a cause, ideal, or deity, making them durable melee combatants who protect the innocent, smite evil, and heal allies with abilities like Lay on Hands and Divine Smite. They aren't just knights with holy magic; they are paragons of their beliefs, manifesting power through sheer willpower and devotion, acting as beacons for righteousness, vengeance, or strict order, and can be light or dark, lawful or chaotic, but always defined by their powerful oaths.
sorcerera Sorcerer is an innate spellcaster whose power comes from a magical bloodline, exposure to raw magic, or an otherworldly event, not from study like a wizard; they use Charisma and a pool of flexible Sorcery Points to fuel their spells, often modifying them with Metamagic for unique effects, making them versatile, potent, and sometimes unpredictable arcane artillery.
warlocka Warlock is a magic-user who gains power through a pact with a powerful, otherworldly being (a Patron) like a fiend, fey, or cosmic entity, serving them for knowledge and power in exchange for magical abilities. Warlocks use Charisma for spellcasting, have limited spell slots that refresh on short rests, and customize their power through Eldritch Invocations and Pact Boons like creating magic weapons (Pact of the Blade) or gaining a familiar (Pact of the Chain).
wizardWizard is the ultimate scholar-spellcaster, mastering arcane magic through intense study, intellect (Intelligence is their key stat), and a spellbook, giving them unmatched versatility with the largest spell list to hurl fireballs, conjure monsters, alter reality, or provide utility, often portrayed as eccentric sages, tactical advisors, or power-hungry seekers of lost knowledge, differing from innate spellcasters like Sorcerers.
